The American Ladino League (ALL) launched in 2024 to address the real-time challenges faced by the Ladino language in the United States. Ladino, also known as Judeo-Spanish and Djudezmo, is an endangered language that Sephardic Jews have spoken for hundreds of years. Ladino is central to Sephardic culture, history, and heritage. Recognizing that the community of fluent speakers is getting smaller every year, the ALL is focused on its core mission of supporting Ladino students and instructors around the country. We aim to make Ladino studies accessible to all.
The organization’s three co-founders are also its current co-directors: Rachel Amado Bortnick, Bryan Kirschen, and Hannah Pressman. Each is active in local, national, and international efforts to preserve and celebrate the Ladino language. They bring a wide array of skills and areas of expertises to the shared work of creating top-quality resources for the community of Ladino speakers. The ALL also convenes an Advisory Board of leaders in the field to amplify our goals and assist in strategic planning.
The ALL is a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible. To support our work, visit our Apoyo / Support page.
