BIVAS

This month, we are pleased to highlight Bivas, the Ladino High School Club of America. Dedicated to inspiring the next generation of Sephardic leaders, Bivas offers high school students opportunities to learn Ladino, explore Sephardic history and traditions, study Solitreo, connect with peers across North America, and participate in immersive programs as well as Shabbaton experiences.
The Benmayor Collection of Sephardic Ballads

The Benmayor Collection of Sephardic Ballads and Other Lore is one of the most important audio archives for Ladino, preserving over 140 recordings of Sephardic Jews who were born and raised in Ottoman lands and later immigrated to the United States in the early 20th century. Collected beginning in 1972 by Dr. Rina Benmayor, the archive captures the language and traditions of a generation that largely transmitted Ladino orally.
