This month we are featuring our own Salon de Ladino. The Ladino Lounge is a weekly opportunity to connect with learners and speakers of the language from around the world. Since the launch of the American Ladino League in 2024, this virtual gathering has become one of the organization’s signature programs, fostering a welcoming, intergenerational community where Ladino is spoken, practiced, and celebrated. Currently, we meet for one hour on Wednesdays at 10:00am Pacific/ 1:00pm Eastern.
Hosted by the three ALL co-directors, each lounge session brings together participants not only from across the United States, but also from Europe, Israel, Latin America, and beyond. Conversations span a wide range of topics—from holidays, refranes (proverbs), and Ladino etymology to Sephardic cuisine, family traditions, current events, and contemporary language use.
Whether you are a heritage speaker, an advanced learner, or just beginning your Ladino journey, everyone is welcome. The first part of each session is dedicated to demandas (questions), giving participants an opportunity to ask about vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, or cultural topics in a supportive environment.
