Konkurso de Ladino / Writing Contest

Kuando empeso

When it started

The contest was born three years ago when a member of Ladinokomunita observed that many works were being written in the language, but there was no official way of recognizing these efforts.

In this way a small team of people came together to act as coordinators and judges that would collect and evaluate written work in a more official fashion.

The goal

We defined as our goal the promotion of the language and its preservation, and we decided that the contest would serve to give everyone, native speakers and students, an opportunity to write on any subject, as long as they were writing in Judeo-Spanish.

Komo evolusiono

How it´s evolved

We started off simply, with one group of participation and without any conditions or restrictions. But each year we refined, better defining the group to make judging more fair, advertising the contest in more places and more social media networks to increase participation, giving more guidance to participants and partnering with more journals and publications to give more visibility to the contest and its winners.
