April 27 Enkontro will feature winners of the Ladino Writing Contest

On Sunday April 27, the Enkontros de Alhad program, hosted by Centro Cultural Sefarad, will highlight the winners of the 2024 Ladino Writing Contest that was organized by Ladinokomunita and the ALL. Join contest organizer Aaron Shapiro and ALL co-directors Bryan Kirschen and Rachel Amado Bortnick for a lively presentation of the winning stories. The event will be held on Zoom and viewable via YouTube TV; the weekly Enkontros de Alhad programs take place entirely in Ladino. Conversation groups

  • The Ladino Lounge, with the American Ladino League, will host a weekly virtual meetup for learners as well as speakers of Ladino. Our final Monday session (1:00-2:00pm ET) will be held on April 7; after Passover, we will resume as of April 23 on Wednesdays at 1:00pm ET/10:00am PT. The first fifteen minutes of each session will be dedicated to beginners of the language; the remaining time will be for more advanced speakers. To register: click here.

    • Note (1): Information appearing in the headings or subheadings is often printed in Meruba instead of Rashi characters.

    • This is the only remaining newspaper printed entirely in Ladino. It is published once a month and serves as a supplement to the Shalom (Şalom) newspaper of the Turkish-Jewish community, which prints articles in Turkish, English, as well as Ladino.

  • Aki Yerushalayim, published digitally since 2019 and appearing two-three times per year.
